About Me
Hi, I’m Teacher Keith! For parents and students trying to filter and find a maths tutor that will place your child/your best interest at the core of lessons, here’s why I might be a good fit.
I teach students efficient holistic Mathematics. This approach has proven to be a more sustainable and less arduous method than the typical MOE curriculum. This is because it focuses on getting students to actually UNDERSTAND instead of rote memorisation. I have created methods for students to feel empowered in manipulating expressions and equations in a way unique from school curriculums. Students will learn the language of Maths with me, not just dry formulae.
The way students will apply themselves to the subject draws inspiration from my own experience as a student of Maths.​ My experience was an addiction-like fascination with the subject since primary school. I always tried to find the logic and real-world examples of concepts I was instructed to memorise. I found great excitement linking newly-taught concepts to my foundational knowledge and creating my own problem-solving strategies my teachers have never taught. From then on, I found myself naturally topping my cohort, achieving full marks in my major exams all the way through to JC2. It is not the fault of teachers for fostering rote memorisation, they were just severely time-constrained and forced to follow a standard curriculum that ends up encouraging such a culture. That’s why in my class, you would never expect an information-dumping session. I always take great care in ensuring students see concepts as more than just equations and numbers, but are able to fundamentally understand how they’re developed to then apply creativity and efficiency in their Maths.​
