I teach holistic Maths beyond the MOE education. In schools, students learn Maths with little link between topics. Such a topical approach is dry and meaningless. My holistic approach allows students to see the bigger picture and understand the place each topic has in the grand scheme of Maths. They would also understand macro and micro skills they are required to learn alongside topical content. Macro skills involve using Maths as a language to dissect questions, and formulate equations based on learnt concepts to tackle all levels of problems. Micro skills involve developing a keen perception of numbers and algebra to be able to manipulate expressions and equations with creativity and precision. My students graduate from my programme with lifelong changes in the way they view anything mathematical, be it in their further studies or daily life.

What to expect?

I am highly punctual as a tutor as I respect my student's committed time to the lesson. I teach actively, always sensing my student's level of understanding and I ensure every learning point is understood. My explanations include analogies that are relatable to my student's personalities or interests, such as sports hobbies or their other favourite subjects. I understand their strengths and weaknesses and give consistent advice on how they should present their solutions in a way that is comfortably efficient for their abilities. Homework questions assigned each lesson are handpicked based on my student's needs for reinforcement or pushing to the next level. 

 

What materials will be used?

Notes are customised to each student's style, and they will be given opportunities to give their input in how they want to structure their notes; a sense of ownership over one's notes encourages motivation to learn. Practice and homework questions will be sourced from textbooks, assessment books or my own collection of quality questions extracted from prelim papers.

 

After-lesson perk​​

Students can clarify with me Mathematics difficulties over WhatsApp at any time, and I usually reply within a few hours (sometimes even when I am overseas on holiday). I am fully committed to helping my students in their Maths journey and hope to make a strong impact.
